Social protection systems are fundamental in reducing and preventing poverty. External shocks, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, highlight the importance of these systems. Persons with disabilities face greater exposure to risks and vulnerabilities throughout the life cycle which can be addressed by social protection systems. This Issue Brief provides recommendations for governments, international organisations and development actors to work towards inclusive comprehensive social protection.
