South Sudan
Light for the World trains in-country partners, including other INGOs, in gender-sensitive, disability-inclusive emergency aid.
We invest in, work alongside, and support the development of local organisations of people with disabilities, the national Deaf community, young people with disabilities, teachers and rehabilitation workers operating in camps for International Displaced People.
South Sudan is experiencing a protracted humanitarian crisis, including civil war. Hospitals and health services are severely under-resourced. Many children – especially those with disabilities – cannot access their right to an education.
From the first ever sign language dictionary, to a new government policy on inclusive education, to the first National Union of Disabled Peoples Organisation, to the formation of our first national blind football and Deaf volleyball teams. I am so proud of the impact we are having through our country office colleagues and local partners in beautiful South Sudan
