How we work
Light for the World encourages new forms of international cooperation. We are helping policymakers and activists to develop systems and policies promoting the values of inclusion, both nationally and internationally. We are also part of powerful international coalitions, such as the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC), and have partnered with renowned foundations and institutional donors.
Cooperating with local partners for sustainability
We work with partners because we know we cannot do it alone. We focus on the poorest and hardest to reach because that’s where we will have the biggest impact. We create change through local people, organisations and structures because we want our impact to last.
Theory of Change
Our programmatic approach is based on our Theory of Change, supporting local partners to implement a combination of disability specific actions, targeted actions in the mainstream, access to programmes and social change processes. This can be condensed into four key aspects:
- Disability-specific actions in programmes and
- Empowerment of persons with disabilities to take their position in society;
- Involving persons with disabilities in all development programmes and
- Overcoming barriers in society.
