Drawings pay cataract operations
Wolfgang Bierbaumer from Tulln in Lower Austria is very keen on drawing. His preferred motifs are monuments or old houses and narrow streets as well as animals (see picture) or people commission him to draw their own house. He is also very enthusiastic about helping other people. He uses the entire profits from selling his drawings to help the work of LIGHT FOR THE WORLD - Christoffel Development Cooperation. Since 1999 he and his wife Elvira have given an annual donation. In January 2004, for instance, they donated 3,000 Euro - in other words with his drawings he paid for 100 cataract operations. |
A wedding party donates sight
When Renate Klauser and Otto Braun married, they celebrated with many relatives and friends. However, there were no presents for the couple. The bride and bridegroom wanted to do a good deed on their special day and asked the guests to make a donation to LIGHT FOR THE WORLD - Christoffel Development Cooperation instead of giving them a wedding present. With the generous donation of 6,750 Euro we were able to buy a desperately needed operation microscope for the eye department of the Bahir Dar Clinic in Ethiopia. |
A special birthday present
Hans Hatzl celebrated his 60th birthday. 80 friends and relatives came to congratulate him and give him a birthday present, a very special present. He had asked for donations to be made to LIGHT FOR THE WORLD instead of buying a present for him. After his celebration he gave us 2,760 Euro. This money can finance 92 cataract operations. |
